Film animation in the 80s was at the turning point before computer animation really took off and dominated the industry. The 3D characters that we see today were still being hand-rendered in the 80s and artists were pushing their limits as new technology was becoming available. What I remember most about 80s animated films were their expressive but not overly expressive characters, handpainted backgrounds, fantasy storylines and great songs.
