80s Dolls

80s baby dolls, in my opinion, were some of the sweetest creations ever because of their realstic but softened face designs and their more realistic body types- babies should be a little round! While the big names in this decade were Cabbage Patch Kids (you either love em or you hate em), Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake, there were tons of other dolls that graced Wish Books and lit up little girls’ and boys’ faces on Christmas morning. Dolls in this period ranged from life-sized fancy collector dolls to dolls who ate, rollerskated, lit up, had hair and makeup that changed colour with “magic” water, grew longer hair or new hair after a haircut, played music, talked, sang, read and crawled. The gimmicks of 60s and 70s dolls seemed to find a real home in the 80s with better doll designs and the power of new technologies to bring our toy friends to life.
