Year 10 wound down the entire G1 line of My Little Pony in the US and focused on North American excusive ponies. This year was sort of a mis-mash of gimmicky new pony concepts and one hell of a 10th birthday pony release to see G1 off into the sunset of one of the most successful toy lines ever, with packaging throughout this year stamped with the Happy 10th Anniversary seal. As production wound down, many of the year 10 ponies are harder to find now for collections. While G1 ended in the US, a few exclusive ponies were still being issued in Europe through 1995.

FLOWER FANTASY PONIES
The Flower Fantasy Ponies sort of took the Twice as Fancy concept and raised it one with truly all-over printed patterns that rather resembled doily patterns.
Flowers and frills from head to toe! (*from packaging)
FLOWERBELLE: Flowers for the Garden: Four o’clock-time for tea! The Flower Fantasy ponies waltzed to their favorite flower garden for a afternoon snack. On a white wicker table were teacups, a pot of tea, tiny sandwiches, and sweet cakes. Everything was ready, except… all the flowers had disappeared from the garden! With a quick wink and whispered wish, the ponies magically made the garden bloom. Roses, lilies, tulips, daisies, and more pretty flowers appeared. The Flower Fantasy ponies marveled at the beautiful blossoms, and sat down to enjoy their tasty snack. (*from backcard)
SIPPIN’ SODA PONIES
A very old toy gimmick involves using air suction to make a doll or toy “eat” and this idea was employed to the Sippin’ Soda Ponies who “sucked” up little beads of pretend ice cream soda through a straw by means of squeezing their bum cheeks to produce suction. If you squeezed my rear hard enough I’d probably suck in air too! Both ponies came with their own plastic ice cream soda cup and straw and was scented like her soda.
With an ice cream soda she loves to sip! She really sips her soda! (*from box)
CHOCOLATE DELIGHT: The Sippin’ Soda Ponies were helping with spring cleaning – brushing stars with glitter and polishing the sun until it shone brightly. When the ponies finished, they were very thirsty. “Let’s have ice cream sodas!” the Sippin’ Soda Ponies exclaimed to their friends. The two ponies sang a pretty melody . . . and big glasses of ice cream sodas appeared, one for everyone! The Sippin’ Soda Ponies popped straws in their sodas and sipped the cool, creamy treats. How nice it is that sweet surprises appear when the Sippin’ Soda Ponies are near! (*from box)
Somewhat of a cross between a Sweetheart Sister, Sunshine and Tropical pony, Sundazzle Ponies had streak of hair that turned colour in exposure to sunlight.
Blond beauty with a hot pink streak of color-changing hair! (*from packaging)
SUNBEAM: One warm, sunny day, the Sundazzle ponies went to the beach for a day of surfing. Hopping on their surfboards, they paddled out to sea, yelling with excitement as they rode the waves back to shore. A bit of magic would make the day even more wonderful, they thought, so they blinked their eyes and … The waves turned into bright, wet rainbows for the ponies to ride! Then, the sun touched the ponies’ hair and added a pink streak that matched the rosy stripe in the waves. How magical the beach can be when the Sundazzle ponies are there!
SWEET KISSES PONIES
Sweet Kisses Ponies were released in North America in the Sweetheart Sister style, whereas the European release ponies in year 10 of the same name used adult pony molds. Sweet Kisses ponies had tinsel in only their mane and came with a “magic” lipstick that worked with cold water.
Her lipstick “magically” appears with cold water! Dip lipstick in cold water and touch pony’s lips …red lipstick appears! Give her a kiss or wipe her lips with warm water… lipstick disappears! (*from packaging)
LOVIN’ KISSES: A Kiss of Color: It was the evening of the Valentine’s Day party in Ponyland. The Sweet Kisses ponies stood before a mirror, admiring their glamorous gowns and sparkling hairstyles. They looked lovely, but they wanted an extra special look for tonight’s romantic party. Spotting a rose bush outside the window, each pony plucked a red petal and blew a magical kiss on it. Poof! The petals changed into tubes of rosy lipstick for the ponies to wear! When the Sweet Kisses ponies arrived at the party, their colorful new look was the hit of the evening! (*from backcard)
SWEET TALKIN’ PONIES
Sweet Talkin’ Ponies did just that- they talked when you pressed their bums to randomly say three of their deepest thoughts: “I love you,” “Comb my hair” and “I’m pretty.” Hasbro made sure we knew from the packaging that these ladies used myterious electronics to generate their phrasing, none of that pull-string stuff here. Wierdy, in the US market these ponies didn’t have names but in the UK they did.

PURPLE PONY (UK NAME: TALK-A-LOT): A Picnic with Friends: My Little Ponies love to have parties, dance on the rainbow and swing on sunbeams. But what they love to do most of all is spend the day with children who love My Little Ponies. One day, the Sweet Talkin’ Ponies went on a picnic with two girls. The happy friends chatted and laughed and ate tasty snacks. Soon, they were busy with their favorite pastime – creating pretty styles with each other’s hair. As the sun began to set, the ponies and girls hugged each other goodbye and promised to meet next week for another fun picnic.
Purple Sweet Talkin Pony also had releases in Europe as well as Australia/ New Zealand.
PINK PONY (UK NAME: CHATTERBOX): Both Sweet Talkin Ponies shared the same backcard story.

FANCY MERMAID PONIES
While mermaids figured into some of the Sea Ponies’ backcard stories and MLP books (so we knew they were present in Ponyland), the Fancy Mermaid Ponies took that to an uncomfortable level for anyone who stopped to consider how exactly they came about… Rather on the small side with a pearly tail finish and unlike the Sea Ponies, having their own symbol/ cutie mark on their chests, Fancy Mermaid Ponies are nevertheless pretty neat and sought after by collectors.
Shimmering baby ponies from the sea! (*from packaging)
BABY SEA SHIMMER: A Shimmering Discovery: One sunny day, the ponies found large, rainbow-striped seashells lying on the beach. “Maybe big pearls are in them,” the ponies mused, and they asked the shells to let them peek inside. The shells slowly opened, and the ponies gasped with surprise. Curled up in each shell was a Fancy Mermaid Pony, shimmering like a pearl! The adorable babies wiggled their tails and splashed into the ocean, where they swam and played with the delighted ponies, who were pleased to meet such wonderful friends from the sea.
Somewhat like a sherbet-coloured Bride pony, the Colorswirl Ponies were exclusive to North America.
Bright, beautiful streaks of color! (*from packaging)
LOVEBEAM: A Rainbow of Fun: The Colorswirl ponies set out one day to discover where the rainbow gets its colors. The three friends pranced up one end of the rainbow and followed the stripes to the other end, where they found a magical lake swirling with colors. Hot and tired from walking, the ponies dove into the beautiful water for a refreshing swim. When they came out of the lake, their bodies were covered with bright, bold streaks! Not only did they find where the rainbow’s colors came from, but they also went away with pretty swirls of their very own! (*from backcard)
Oddly, Lovebeam’s hair colours are backwards on her backcard.
PARADISE BABY PONIES
The Paradise Babies aren’t direct counterparts to the Tropical adult ponies but they could be considered close enough with Baby Pineapple and Tootie Tails making a nice mother/baby pair and Pina Colada standing in as a good Auntie for Baby Palm Tree. (For more pony families that coulda shoulda been, visit the My Little Pony Families page link at the bottom of this page.)
Bright, tropical babies from paradise! (*from packaging)
BABY PALM TREE: Island Magic: Of all the pretty places in Ponyland, the Paradise Babies like Paradise Island most of all. They like to sip pineapple juice under a palm tree and build sandcastles on the beach. One day, something wonderful happened as they napped in a tropical garden on the island. The magical flowers touched the baby ponies with their colorful petals, and gave them a bright, new look from nose to tail! When the ponies awoke, they loved the brilliant colors and couldn’t wait to show everyone what a nap on Paradise Island could do! (*from backcard)
TEENY PONY TWINS
The Teeny Tiny Ponies came back in year 10 with twin sisters that could be told apart by the placement of an additional tiny cutie mark on either the cheek or leg. Unlike their slightly larger Newborn Twin siblings of the past, the Teenies didn’t come with toys or nursery items, just 1 or 2 small accessories.
Little look-alikes, with an itty bitty difference for you to find! (*from packaging)
SNIFFLES AND SNOOKUMS: A Double Delight: The ponies awoke one morning and discovered that a double dose of pony magic had enchanted Ponyland! Two rays of sun beamed light upon the land, two rainbows arched across the sky, and two bells chimed to announce the arrival of newborn ponies! All the ponies hurried to the nursery, wondering what “double magic” surprise they’d find there. Instead of one newborn in each crib, the ponies saw two little faces peeking from under the covers… twin ponies! “With twice the magic, we have twice as many babies to love!” exclaimed the delighted ponies. (*from backcard)
Sniffles and Snookums also had an Australian release. Their names are part of many of the pony names Hasbro recycled throughout G1 and you can see more at the bottom of this page at the G1 Name-Sharing Ponies link.
RATTLES AND TATTLES: *All Teeny Pony Twins shared the same backcard story.
